This standard specifies requirements and test methods for intraocular lenses (IOLs). This standard refers to spherical monofocal, aspheric monofocal, toric, multifocal, and accommodative IOLs. This part of the standard series contains test methods and associated requirements for optical functions of intraocular lenses. Furthermore,a method for spectral transmittance is given as additional information for those readers who are interested in UV transmission and specific situations, for example when using laser light sources for diagnosis and treatment of patients. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 027-01-20 AA "Intraokulare Medizinprodukte" ("Intraocular medical devices") at DIN.
