This standard specifies a method for determining the flow rate of metallic powders, including powders for hardmetals and mixes of metallic powders and organic additives such as lubricants, by means of a calibrated funnel (Gustavsson flowmeter). This method is applicable only to powders which flow freely through the specified test orifice. The time required for 50 g of a metallic powder to flow through the orifice of a calibrated funnel of standardized dimensions is measured. This standard has been prepared by CEN/SS M11 (secretariat: CCMC) from work by ISO/TC 119/SC 2 "Sampling and testing methods for powders (including powders for hardmetals)". The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 145-01-02 AA "Probenahme und Prüfverfahren für Pulver (einschließlich Pulver für Hartmetalle)" ("Sampling and testing methods for powders (incl. powders for hardmetals)") of the Technology of Materials Standards Committee (NWT) at DIN.
