This standard describes the procedure for the hardness testing of etched cross-sections of resistance spot, projection, and seam welds. The aim of the hardness test is to determine the Vickers hardness, in the low-force or microhardness range, of the weld nugget, the heat affected zone, and parent material in ferrous or non-ferrous metals for welds made in sheets of thickness ≥ 0,5 mm. The International Standard ISO 14271:2011 upon which European Standard EN ISO 14271:2011 is based has been prepared by the International Institute of Welding (IIW). This consolidated version contains Corrigendum AC:2012. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN ISO 14271:2002-04: - text of ISO 14271:2011 has been completely adopted, - content has been updated (concept maintained).
