This document specifies the safety requirements for machining centres, milling machines, and transfer centres that apply to machines placed on the market for the first time in the EEA in accordance with the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC in order to facilitate verification of compliance with these requirements. This document specifies technical safety requirements and measures for these machines, which shall be applied by designers, manufacturers, installers, and/or suppliers of these machines. In addition, this document also contains information that shall be made available to the user by the manufacturer. The requirements contained in this standard cover the intended use under normal workshop conditions, but in a non-explosive atmosphere, including installation, setup, maintenance, repair, and dismantling for relocation or disposal of these machines. This standard also applies to additional equipment that is an integral part of the machine. The designations and technical specifications of the intended operating modes have changed compared to the previous standard DIN EN ISO 16090-1:2019. This mainly affects special operating mode 3 "Automatic operation with manual intervention". The use of an enable button is no longer required for this operating mode. Target group: Designers, operators, and suppliers of the above-mentioned machines. The standard has been prepared by ISO TC 39 Machine tools, SC 10 Safety, WG 4 Machining centres. The responsible committee for this standard at DIN is NA 122-10-04 AA "Sicherheit - Fräsmaschinen, Bearbeitungszentren" ("Machining Centres - Safety").
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 16090-1:2019-12 .
