This standard is based on the superordinate standard ISO 14814 specifying the architecture context for automatic vehicle and equipment identification for road transport. DIN EN ISO 17261 extends the aforementioned standard to include intermodal goods transport architecture. Architecture description has become consistent with respect to the definitions and recommendations within ISO/TC 204/WG 1.
