This standard defines terms in the field of liquid pumps. This standard serves for the improvement and unification of understanding and clarification for the description of pumps and their rated design. This part of ISO 17769 specifies terms, letter symbols and units related to the flow of liquids through rotodynamic and positive displacement liquid pumps and associated installations. It serves as a means of clarifying communications between the installation designer, manufacturer, operator and plant constructor. This part of ISO 17769 identifies the units in common usage, but all additional legal units can be used. . - Part 1 deals with liquid pumps. - Part 2 deals with pumping systems. This part of ISO 17769 applies only to the conditions described by positive values of the flow rate and the pump head. This part of ISO 17769 is not concerned with terms, letter symbols and units referring to the component parts of rotodynamic and positive displacement pumps and installations. Whenever possible, symbols and definitions conform to those used in ISO 80000-1, with further explanations where these are deemed appropriate. Some deviations have been incorporated for reasons of consistency. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 17769-2:2012 which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 115 "Pumps" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 197 "Pumps" in the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation are represented by Committee NA 060-11-01 AA "Kreiselpumpen" ("Centrifugal pumps") of Technical Section "Pumps" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the manufacturers and users of pumps, and of the employers' liability insurance associations are involved in the preparation.
