This standard specifies ceramic shanks of rotary instruments used in dentistry and gives measurement methods for the verification of the dimensions. Shanks for rotary instruments are classified into four types. The International Standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 106/SC 4/WG 1 "Rotary instruments" (secretariat: DIN), in collaboration with CEN/TC 55 "Dentistry" (secretariat: DIN). Working Committee NA 014-00-04 AA "Rotierende Instrumente" ("Rotary instruments") of NADENT is responsible at DIN.
