Overview

This document describes a test method to determine the activity concentration of atmospheric tritium by trapping tritium in air by bubbling through a water solution. The sampled air is continuously pumped and converted into small bubbles by a specific generator. The formulae are given for a sampling system with four bubblers. However, they can also be adapted to collectors with only one collection module specifically for activity concentrations of tritiated water vapor in air. This document does not cover results from laboratory samples according to DIN EN ISO 9698 (Water quality - Determination of the activity concentration of tritium - Test method using liquid scintillation counting) or ISO 13168 (Water quality - Simultaneous determination of tritium and carbon 14 activities - Test method using liquid scintillation counting).
