This International Standard specifies a standard test method for determining the ability of metallic sheets and strips having a thickness from 0,1 mm up to 2 mm and a width of 90 mm or greater to undergo plastic deformation in stretch forming. For materials that are thicker and when only narrower strips are available, tools of specified dimensions are provided, in which case subscripts are used with the Erichsen cupping index, as shown in Table 1. This document (EN ISO 20482:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 164 "Mechanical testing of metals", Subcommittee SC 2 "Ductility testing" (secretariat: JISC, Japan) in collaboration with Technical Committee ECISS/TC 101 "Test methods for steel (other than chemical analysis)" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) in accordance with the agreement on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement). Regarding the German collaboration, Working Committee NA 062-01-42 AA "Zug- und Duktilitätsprüfung für Metalle" ("Tensile and ductility testing of metals") of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) is responsible.
