This document specifies a method for determining the stitch tear resistance of leather. It can be used on all leathers but is particularly suitable for leathers over 1,2 mm in thickness. This document (EN ISO 23910:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee "International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS)" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 289 "Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI (Italy). The standard is based on the procedure IUP 44, originally published in J. Soc. Leather Trades Chemists 84, p. 409, (2000) and declared as an official procedure of the IULTCS 2001.
