DIN EN ISO 26443:2016-09

The text of ISO 26443:2008 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 206 "Fine ceramics" of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and adopted as EN ISO 26443 by CEN/TC 184 "Advanced technical ceramics", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany). This document specifies a method for evaluating the adhesion of ceramic coatings by creating an indentation in the coating with a diamond indenter applied for Rockwell hardness testing. The formation of cracks after indentation may also reveal cohesive failure. The indentation test is performed with a testing machine designed for Rockwell hardness testing. The indentation and the adjacent area of the coating are examined for cracks and/or chipping using an optical microscope. The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-01-64 AA " Kohlenstoffschichten und keramische Hartstoffschichten" ("Carbon-based films and ceramic hard coatings") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
