This document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 28 "Petroleum products and related products of synthetic or biological origin" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 19 "Gaseous and liquid fuels, lubricants and related products of petroleum, synthetic and biological origin", the secretariat of which is held by NEN (the Netherlands).
The responsible national standardization committee is Working Committee NA 062-06-42 AA "Prüfung von flüssigen Kraftstoffen und Heizölen") ("Testing of liquid fuels and fuel oils") of the Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (FAM) at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
This standard describes three procedures, A, B and C, using the Pensky-Martens closed cup tester, for determining the flash point of combustible liquids, liquids with suspended solids, liquids that tend to form a surface film under the test conditions, biodiesel and other liquids in the temperature range of 40 °C to 370 °C.
