DIN EN ISO 3164:2013-09

This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I, section 3.4.4, of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and which apply to machines that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of that directive. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a "harmonized" standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This International Standard specifies the deflection limiting volume (DLV) to be used when performing laboratory evaluations of structures which provide protection to operators of earth-moving machinery as defined in ISO 6165. This standard differs from DIN EN ISO 3164:2009-06 as follows: a) clause 2 "Normative references" includes now some dated references; b) clause 3 "Terms and definitions" has been updated (3.1.1 "orthogonal DLV", 3.1.2 "rounded DLV" and 3.1.3 "orthogonal top head plane"); c) clause 4 "DLV dimensions, use and accuracy" has been revised; d) Figure 1: the wording in the key has been modified; e) Figure 2: the wording in the key has been modified; f) 5.2 to 5.4 have been moved; g) Figure 4: the key has been supplemented; h) figures have been updated. During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Committee NA 060-13-15 AA "Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit" ("Electromagnetic compatibility") of Technical Section "Bau- und Baustoffmaschinen" ("Construction and construction material machinery") of the Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of construction machinery, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations are involved in the preparation of the standard.
