Overview

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This International Standard contains general rules and safety requirements for hydraulic fluid power systems and their components used on machinery as defined by ISO 12100-1:2010, 3.1. It gives hazards associated with hydraulic fluid power systems and specifies the principles to apply in order to avoid those hazards when the systems are put to their intended use. The significant hazard noise is incompletely dealt with in this International Standard. Noise emission depends especially on the installation of hydraulic components or systems into machinery. This International Standard applies to the design, construction and modification of systems and their components, also taking into account the following aspects: a) assembly; b) installation; c) adjustment; d) uninterrupted system operation; e) ease and economy of maintenance and cleaning; f) reliable operation in all intended uses; g) energy efficiency; and h) environment. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 4413:2010, which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 131 "Fluid power systems", in collaboration with CEN/TC 114 "Safety of machinery" at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 982:2009-06: DIN EN 982 has been fundamentally revised. In this regard, the functional requirements contained in ISO 4413:1996 have been updated and adopted, amongst others. As the boundary conditions for hydraulic systems in stationary industrial machinery and mobile machinery sometimes differ strongly, differentiated requirements were formulated for those two applications, if necessary. The national interests during the preparation of this standard were represented by Committee NA 060-36-90 AA "Ausführungsrichtlinie Pneumatik" ("Execution guideline pneumatics") of Technical Section "Fluid power systems" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of hydraulic systems and their components, and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to the preparation of the standard.
