This part of ISO 4628 specifies a method for evaluating the degree of flaking of coatings by comparison with pictorial standards. ISO 4628-1 should be consulted with regard to the system for evaluating the amount and size of coating damage and the intensity of changes in the appearance of coatings, as well as the fundamentals of the system. The responsible committee for this standard is NA 002-00-07 AA "Allgemeine Prüfverfahren für Beschichtungsstoffe und Beschichtungen" ("General test methods for coating materials and coatings") at DIN Standards Committee Coatings and Coating Materials (NAB).
