Overview
This International standard specifies a method for the determination of the dezincification resistance of copper alloys with zinc exposed to fresh, saline waters or drinking water and for the calculation of the dezincification depth after testing. The method is intended for copper alloys with a mass fraction of zinc greater than 15 %. The method may be used outside its scope for control or research purposes. The text of ISO 6509-1:2014 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 156 "Corrosion of metals and alloys" of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been adopted as EN ISO 6509-1:2014 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 262 "Metallic and other inorganic coatings", the secretariat of which is held by BSI. The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-01-77 AA "Korrosionsprüfverfahren" ("Corrosion testing") of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP).
