This document specifies a range of fineness of precious metal alloys (excluding solders) recommended for use in the field of jewellery. The standard refers to precious metal alloys of gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Reference is made to the corresponding reference methods for analyzing the fineness. This document (ISO 9202) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 174 "Jewellery" (secretariat: DIN, Germany) of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) with the collaboration of German experts and shall now be adopted as EN ISO 9202. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 027-04-04 AA "Analysenmethoden zur Bestimmung des Feingehalts von Edelmetallen" ("Methods of analysis for determination of fineness of precious metals") at DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO).
