This document defines physical quantities and other terms in the field of thermal insulation relating to heat transfer by radiation. It defines terms for surfaces that absorb, transfer and emit heat radiation, as well as for opaque or semi-transparent surfaces that absorb heat radiation, and terms for a semi-transparent medium that absorbs heat radiation, combined heat transfer by conduction and radiation. This document (EN ISO 9288:2022) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 163 "Thermal performance and energy use in the built environment" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 89 "Thermal performance of buildings and building components", the secretariat of which is held by SIS (Sweden).
