This part of ISO 14133 gives requirements for general purpose binoculars, monoculars and spotting scopes. It is not applicable to high performance binoculars, monoculars and spotting scopes, which are specified in ISO 14133-2. This document has been prepared by ISO/TC 172 "Optics and photonics", Subcommittee "Telescopic systems" (secretariat: GOST R, Russia) with the collaboration of German experts. Working Committee NA 027-01-10 AA "Fernrohre und Vergrößerungsgläser" ("Telescopic systems") at DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO) at DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V. (German Institute for Standardization) is responsible.
