With one discrete analysis system, a large number of different parameters can be determined by automated photometry, and the parameters to be determined can be specified for each sample. Working with small volumes requires less sample material and reagents. Samples that fall beyond the normal measuring range can either be automatically diluted or measured again with a different measuring range. This International Standard specifies a method for automatic performance of spectrophotometric determination of ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, chloride, orthophosphate, sulfate, and silicate. The field of application is ground, potable, surface, waste, eluates, and boiler water. The International Standard on which this standard is based has been prepared by ISO/TC 147/SC 2/WG 63 "Discrete analysis", the secretariat of which is held by BSI. The responsible German committee is NA 119-01-03-01-23 AK "Einzelanalysensysteme" ("Discrete analysis system") at NA 119-01-03 AA "Wasseruntersuchung" ("Water examination") at NAW. The national editing of this project is funded by the Länderfinanzierungsprogramm "Wasser, Boden und Abfall" (federal funding programme "Water, soil and waste").
