DIN ISO 1832:2017-06

This International Standard establishes a code for the designation of the usual types of indexable inserts for cutting tools in hard cutting materials or any other cutting materials, in order to simplify orders and specifications for such inserts. It also specifies the designations for cubic boron nitride (BL, BH, BC) inserts, tipped and solid, as well as polycrystalline diamond (DP) inserts, tipped. This International Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 29 "Small tools", Subcommittee SC 9 "Tools with cutting edges, cutting items". The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 121-01-12 AA "Dreh- und Bohrwerkzeuge mit Wendeschneidplatten aus harten Schneidstoffen" ("Turning- and drilling tools with indexable inserts made of hard cutting materials") at DIN Standards Committee Tools and Clamping Devices (FWS).
