This International Standard provides practical guidance to organizations on how to meet the requirements of ISO 50001 with regard to the establishment, use, and adjustment of energy performance indicators (EnPIs) and energy baselines (EnBs) when measuring energy-related performance and changes therein. Energy performance indicators and energy baselines are two interrelated key elements of ISO 50001 that enable the measurement and, consequently, the control of energy-related performance in an organization. Energy-related performance is a comprehensive concept that is related to energy consumption, energy use, and energy efficiency. The guidance in this standard is applicable to any organization, regardless of its type, size, geographical location, or its level of maturity in the field of energy management. Working Committee Working Committee NA 172-00-09 AA "Energieeffizienz und Energiemanagement" ("Energy efficiency and energy management") at DIN Standards Committee Principles of Environmental Protection (NAGUS) is responsible for German participation in this standard.
