This standard introduces the selection and erection of electrical equipment. It contains common rules for compliance with safety measures, requirements regarding satisfactory operation of the installation during intended use and requirements regarding the corresponding foreseeable external influences. With respect to DIN VDE 0100-510 (VDE 0100-510):2007-06, the following essential modifications have been made: a) requirements for conformity with standards are now available without particular conditions for Germany and contain additional requirements regarding the manufacturer's declaration; b) correction of print errors in Table ZA.1; c) incorporation of measures for reduction of protective conductor currents; d) concurrency factor shall be taken into account instead of usage factor for performance; e) marking of PEL and PEM conductors has been incorporated. The responsible Committee is K 221 "Elektrische Anlagen und Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag" ("Electrical installations and protection against electric shock") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
