Overview

This document applies to type B+ residual current operated circuit-breakers without integral overcurrent protection (hereinafter referred to as RCCB), consisting of a mains voltage-independent part for detecting sinusoidal alternating and pulsating direct fault currents and a mains voltage-dependent part for detecting smooth direct fault currents, for use in household installations and similar applications with rated voltages not exceeding 440 V AC and rated currents not exceeding 125 A without overcurrent protection, which are primarily intended to protect against electric shock. RCCBs in accordance with this document are intended for use in single-phase and multi-phase AC circuits. They are not intended for use in direct current circuits. The standard differs from DIN VDE 0664-400 (VDE 0664-400):2012-05 as follows: a) update of references to DIN EN 61008-1 (VDE 0664-10):2018-03. This document is used for the design and testing of type B+ residual current operated circuit-breakers without integral overcurrent protection.
