This standard is applicable for large end links for stud link anchor chain cables of Grade GL-K3 with the nominal sizes 16 to 90, which are used on board of vessels at ambient temperatures ≥ -20 °C. At ambient temperatures ≥ -20 °C the use of large end links of Grade GL-K4 according to DIN 81857 is recommended. Large end links according to VG 84534 are components of slip stoppers of Grade GL-K3 according to VG 84514. A preparation of the large end link has become necessary because, when all the tolerances are applied to the full, the "common" end link according to VG 84531 cannot be safely connected with the anchor bolt shackles according to VG 84536. The space inside the large end link is substantially larger than that in the "common" end link, thus making it considerably easier to attach the anchor bolt shackle to the large end link. This standard describes, in tabular form, the requirements, dimensions and masses for large end links of Grade GL-K3. In Annex A (informative), the calculation bases were given. These calculation bases include the nominal size, diameter (common stud link), pitch, diameter (test calibre) as well as mass determination by calculation for large end links.
