Eye plates according to this standard are used on ship-to-shore gangways for floating equipment of the Deutsche Marine (German Navy) and are part of the ship-to-shore gangways. They serve as fixing points for the railing ropes (handrails and in-between rails), as lashing points when securing ship-to-shore gangways in their working positions and as anchor points for the hoisting gear.
