This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 140-00-17-23 UA "Elektrische Bordnetze für Landfahrzeuge" ("Electrical systems for land vehicles") of the Electrical Engineering Standards Committee (NE) at DIN. The presented standard is a testing standard for electrical systems for land vehicles. The standard specifies the technical requirements and the tests for verification on a system as well as component level. Furthermore, this standard distinguishes between vehicle components and tactical components on a component level. Requirements exceeding those of this standard as well as an interface description are included in VG 96957 series. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is not covered by the standards of the series VG 96916.
