The B11 standards are leading safety standards for machines and machine tools in the USA. They define terms, principles, requirements and risk minimization measures for new, existing or converted industrial and commercial machinery — with the aim of sustainably reducing occupational accidents and injuries worldwide.
B11 Standards are used by machine manufacturers, operators, maintenance staff, safety experts, planners and occupational health and safety officers. They support companies, authorities and testing organisations in ensuring machine safety, occupational health and safety, conformity and safe production processes both nationally and internationally.
The B11 Standards are developed by B11 Standards Inc. and the B11 Standards Development Committee (B11 SDC), which consists of over 30 national and international organizations and experts working together in writing subcommittees. ANSI accredits the process and certifies the B11 documents as American National Standards.
