Short description

This AD 2000-Merkblatt applies to seamless hollow sections, hollow components, and billets made of unalloyed and alloyed steels that are used as shells for pressure vessels operated at operating temperatures as well as at ambient temperatures down to -10 °C. The hollow bodies may be manufactured by forging, pressing, rolling, and drawing, or by machining. Depending on the manufacturing process, they are produced with open ends, ends closed on one or both sides by cupping or drawing, or with pressed or forged-on bottoms. For pressure vessel shells made from tubes whose ends are not formed, AD 2000-Merkblatt W 4 applies. For operating temperatures below -10 °C, AD 2000-Merkblatt W 10 also applies. The basic requirements for the materials and the material manufacturer are specified in AD 2000-Merkblatt W 0.
