DIN EN IEC 62305-3 Beiblatt 1:2025-10

This Supplement to DIN EN IEC 62305-3 (VDE 0185-305-3) provides additional information and image representations for specific clauses of the standard that are intended to facilitate its application. The Supplement contains useful information and numerous practical examples from the design and installation of lightning protection systems (LPS), but it does not include any additional requirements. There are no restrictions on the scope of application. For structures with potentially explosive atmospheres, DIN EN IEC 62305-3 Supplement 7 (VDE 0185-305-3 Supplement 7) provides additional information for structures with potentially explosive atmospheres. Depending on the use of the structure, see the following additional standards if required: - the requirements of the VDE 0101 series of standards shall also be observed for buildings with electrical systems exceeding 1 kV; - the requirements of the VDE 0165 series of standards shall also be observed for buildings with potentially explosive atmospheres; - additional measures in accordance with DIN EN 50310 (VDE 0800-2-310) shall be taken into consideration for buildings with information technology systems. The standard differs from DIN EN 62305-3 Supplement 1 (VDE 0185-305-3 Supplement 1):2012-10 as follows: a) editorial revision of the Supplement; b) additions to the information in Clauses 3, 4, and 5; c) additional information on the terms spatially separated lightning protection, electrically isolated lightning protection, and conventional lightning protection; d) supplementary notes on reduced separation distances for structures with continuous electrical steel reinforcement or shielding; e) statements on lightning protection for glass facades; f) implementation recommendations for cable routing in arresters and down conductors through fire-resistant walls; g) further information on protective measures against step voltages and touch voltages; h) consideration of the requirements of DIN 18014:2023-06; i) extensive additions with regard to the electrical insulation of external lightning protection systems; j) additional images and text with regard to down conductors and grounding systems; k) information on the use of natural components; l) inspection of electrically insulated lightning protection.
