Overview

This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 057-04-01 AA "Tabak und Tabakerzeugnisse" ("Tobacco and tobacco products") of the Food and Agricultural Products Standards Committee (NAL) at DIN. Since the first edition of this document was published in 2004, there has been a significant increase in scientific publications with findings on the toxicological investigation of additives to tobacco products. With respect to the strategies and methods introduced therein and considering the lack of globally recognized standard procedures for toxicological testing and evaluation of tobacco additives, this revised edition of the guideline is intended to propose recommendations for a test battery that reflects the current state of the art, that is, a defacto standard, and the necessary key assessment criteria. This document refers to the Tobacco Products Directive (2001/37/EC).
