Short description
In the context of the increasing conservation of resources in the industrial environment of mass production, foaming is becoming more and more important. Foamed plastic components can be used to reduce the weight of a car, for example, so that fuel/energy consumption is reduced and - especially in electric cars - the range is increased. Thermoplastic foam injection moulding (TFIM) can also be used to reduce warpage and sink marks in foamed plastic components. The material savings in foaming components also lead to a reduction in the resources required and thus contribute to reducing the component’s CO2 footprint. Foamed components are also usually materially recyclable. The standard ensures compliance with a high moulded part quality and provides the designer with a design guideline for foam injection moulded parts.
