Short description
The bulk materials handled by elevators are often combustible, dust-like or dusty. Depending on the type of bulk material conveyed and the design of the elevator, potentially explosive atmospheres may be created. The standard specifies protective measures adopted to prevent fires and explosions in elevators in which combustible dust/air mixtures are found or can develop when operated in the intended manner. The standard is intended for manufacturers as well as operators of elevators.
