Today, infrared measurement systems are available that are simple and easily to operate, e. g. for verification of machinery and plant technology in industrial and production facilities as well as infrastructure systems. The standard describes the basics of infrared physics, methods for estimating measurement errors and for evaluating and documenting the measurement results based on the device technology used. This provides maintenance and repair personnel with information on the practical application of non-contact temperature measurement technology and enables them to define a suitable thermographic measurement system.
