Short description

The guideline deals with the cleaning of waste gas/waste air containing gaseous pollutants and aerosols. The decomposition of pollutants is carried out in an aerobic process by micro-organisms settled on solid carrier materials. The guideline gives a survey of the types of waste gases and/or pollutants which have succesfully been eliminated with the application of biological filters. It contains the basic information together with criteria for evaluation which are necessary for an appropriate design of the facility. It also describes productions procedures whose biological waste gas treatment in biofilters has been established in practice.
