Short description

In addition to a basic understanding of how radiation thermometers work (see VDI/VDE 3511 Part 4) and proper use (see VDI/VDE 3511 Part 4.2 and VDI/VDE 3511 Part 4.5), a prerequisite for the expedient performance of temperature measurements with radiation thermometers is calibration of these radiation temperature measuring instruments. This standard should be used as instructions for the calibration of radiation thermometers that are used for the quantitative detection of surface temperatures.
