This document specifies the basics for the specification and the verification respectively, regarding lightning/surge protection of operational military systems. For mobile and transportable land systems, it shows possibilities for implementing lightning and surge protection. Furthermore, this document shows a method that can be used to determine potential lightning impact points and the associated peak values of the lightning surge current for watercraft with metallic hull. Working Committee NA 140-00-19 AA "Nuklear-Elektromagnetischer Puls (NEMP) und Blitz" ("Nuclear electromagnetic pulse (NEMP) and lightning protection") at DIN Standards Committee Electrical Engineering (NE) is responsible for this document.
