This standard describes the technology of driverless transport systems or systems of autonomous, mobile robots. It is primarily about systems for the transport of goods and for the supply of the assembly, but not about the transport of people. In particular, the standard is limited to the internal area. Vehicles with wheel drives are considered in this standard. Rail-guided vehicles, hovercrafts and travelling machines are excluded. The standard provides a definition of driverless transport systems and an insight into the associated subsystems. One focus is on driverless transport vehicles, their designs and assemblies. There are further standards for the subsystems within the framework of this series of standards, the contents of which are briefly summarized in the respective sections of these standard.
