DIN 14685-1:2011-10

This standard contains dimensions and requirements for portable generating sets ≥ 5 kVA used for fire fighting and rescue vehicles and other aid organizations for network-independent use of electric equipment. The product standard deals in particular with quality and safety aspects. This standard supersedes DIN 14685:1996-04 and now also considers capacities > 8 kVA. Other modifications include the revision of the requirements and explanations of necessary protective measures, the normative incorporation of an insulation monitoring device with fault signal, and the incorporation of an installed three-way valve (or equivalent device) for third party fuelling, amongst others. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-02-02 AA "Elektrische Betriebsmittel" ("Electrical equipment") at DIN.
