DIN 14961:2025-09

This standard is applicable for boats of the fire brigade (hereinafter referred to as "boats") and is applicable to: - boats with a maximum hull length of 8 m that are used in a temperature range between -20 °C and +70 °C and in accordance with design categories D and C (see EU Directive 2013/53/EU (including amendments)) relating to recreational craft; - boats used by fire brigades during rescue operations and technical assistances. The document also applies to boats that - when equipped correspondingly - are used for fire extinguishing activities; - boats whose area of operation does not fall under the requirements of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN). In order to be able to use boats for the fire-brigade in a safe and successful manner, the standard includes specifications necessary for this purpose on dimensions, mass, designation, design requirements, safety-compliant variants of inflatable and semi-rigid boats as well as solid boats, slip resistance, material, service temperatures, floatability, resistance to capsizing, loading aids, towing equipment, control station, the electric installation and fuel system, wear protection, storage, transport, colouration and marking, type plate, graphical symbols and operating instructions, the confirmation or acceptance test and the boat-specific equipment and fire-brigade-specific cargo. Furthermore, additional requirements for lifeboats RTB and multi-purpose boats MZB are included. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN 14961:2013-04 as follows: a) rapid deployment boat (RDB) included; b) inclusion of all essential requirements from DIN EN 1914; c) technical content of the standard completely revised; d) normative references completely revised; e) bibliography completely revised; f) complete editorial revision of content.
