Overview

This document applies to unreinforced paving blocks of concrete with open structure using mineral binders, which are used to produce permeable paving surfaces for public and private traffic areas, such as roads, paths, squares, and areas in private residential environments. Paving blocks of concrete with open structure should only be used for paving surfaces where the use or introduction of de-icing agents can be largely ruled out. For reasons of soil and groundwater protection alone, de-icing agents should not be used on permeable traffic areas. Paving blocks of concrete with open structure should only be used for traffic area pavements whose entire superstructure has been professionally constructed with sufficient permeability, taking into account the subsoil conditions. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 005-10-02 AA "Pflastersteine, Platten und Bordsteine (SpA zu CEN/TC 178/WG 1)" ("Paving units and kerbs (national mirror committee for CEN/TC 178/WG 1)") at DIN Standards Committee Building and Civil Engineering (NaBau).
