Overview

The standard describes a 14 digit alphanumeric sequence acting as an identification number, which applies as unequivocal identification for all manufacturers and sectors and replaces the previously used property number. The identification applying for all manufacturers is intended for all measuring devices to be procured. The use of the devices is universal therewith and the identification is unequivocal. The responsible committee is K 461 "Elektrizitätszähler" ("Energy meters") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
