This document (DIN 54400:2015) has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-08-95 AA "Prüfung von Ionenaustauschern" ("Testing of ion exchangers") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP). The elaboration of a term standard for the field of ion exchangers became necessary, because due to the versatile fields of application of ion exchangers, often several different names were assigned to a term. This document applies to synthetic organic ion exchange resins when used in aqueous systems. Liquids and inorganic substances capable of ion exchange and liquids other than water are not covered by this standard.
