Overview
The purpose of the test according to this standard is to determine the quantity of diisononyl phthalate (DINP) plasticizer absorbed at 85 °C by a VC polymer for general use to form a dry mixture and the average rate at which the VC polymer absorbs plasticizer during mixing. Knowledge of the plasticizer sorption and the plasticizer sorption rate at 85 °C is important for assessing the suitability of a VC polymer for the production of powdery, plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-P) compounds. This standard differs from DIN 54802-1:1997-09 as follows: a) the list of normative references has been updated; b) dioctyl phthalate (DOP) has been replaced by diisononyl phthalate (DINP) throughout the document and the test temperature increased from 75 °C to 85 °C; c) Annex A (informative) has been revised; d) the standard has been editorially revised. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 054-02-10 AA "Thermoplast-Formmassen" ("Thermoplastic materials") of the Standards Committee Plastics (FNK) at DIN.
