This standard shall be applied to self-locking nuts with maximum operating temperatures less than or equal to 425 °C and for standards, drawings or other documents when referred to this standard. It is applicable for nuts with ISO metric thread according to LN 9163-1 and LN 9163-2 as well as for nuts with MJ thread according to DIN ISO 5855-1 and DIN ISO 5855-2. This standard has been prepared by experts at Working Committee NA 131-03-01 AA "Verbindungselemente (Spiegelausschuss zu ISO/TC 20/SC 4" ("Aerospace fasteners (mirror committee to ISO/TC 20/SC 4)") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
