DIN 8471:2018-01

This standard applies to non-motorized hand-held devices intended for soil cultivation or similar purposes, primarily in the home garden. It also covers such hand-held devices that are designed for special purposes, for example in agriculture and forestry or similar. It contains terms and defines requirements for the performance characteristics and their testing. With the new version of DIN 8471, the test requirements have been adapted to the state of the art and groups 2 (pulling) and 3 (hacking) have been expanded. In addition, the hardness ranges have been adapted and the tests for torsion, UV resistance and the gravel tray test have been removed because reproducibility is not always guaranteed. Subcommittee NA 020-00-11-08 UA "Handgeräte" ("Hand-held garden tools") at DIN is responsible for this standard.
