Overview

This document applies to non-motorized hand tools intended for soil cultivation or similar purposes, primarily in home gardens. The document also covers hand tools designed for special purposes, such as in agriculture, forestry, or similar applications. It contains terms and specifies requirements for performance characteristics and their testing. The revision of DIN 8471 essentially states that the document does not apply to small garden tools smaller than 60 cm. In addition, hardness measurement points for sand shovels (Holsteiner form) have been included in a new Figure 13, and the length specification for the test device in 5.2.1.1.1 and 5.2.1.2.1 has been deleted. Committee NA 020-00-11-08 UA "Handgeräte" ("Hand-held tools") at DIN is responsible for this document.
