This document applies to patented cold drawn unalloyed steel wire of circular cross-section for the manufacture of mechanical springs for static duty and dynamic duty applications. Essential parts of the standard include the classification of grades, ordering information, requirements, test methods, marking and packaging. In addition to this European draft standard, the general technical delivery conditions according to EN 10021 apply. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 021-00-08-04 UA "Patentiert-gezogener oder vergüteter Federstahldraht" ("Patented and tempered spring steel wire") at DIN Standards Committee Iron and Steel (FES).
