Overview
The purpose of alcohol interlocks is to increase traffic safety by preventing people with alcohol concentrations above a specified limit from driving a motor vehicle. This European Standard specifies test methods and performance requirements for breath alcohol controlled alcohol interlocks having a mouthpiece. This European Standard is directed at test laboratories and manufacturers of alcohol interlocks. It defines requirements and test procedures for type testing. This change contains requirements regarding the testing of accessory devices of the alcohol interlock. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 966.2 "Atemalkohol-Messung" ("Alcohol measurement") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
