This part of the International Standard IEC 61300 describes the test of resistance of cable attachment of a fibre optic device, such as a fibre splice closure, to compressive forces as they can occur during normal operation. The standard provides manufacturers and test laboratories with security regarding the specification of the test and serves as a reference for quality assurance. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
